Reviewing Junk Mail
As unsolicited, mass email (Spam) continues to be a serious problem for email users and providers everywhere, Enilon is doing its part to keep your inboxes clean. To do so, we use advanced Spam Filters on our mail server in an attempt to determine whether incoming messages are Spam or not. The proper categorization of an email message as either Spam or legitimate mail is done correctly most of the time, but on rare occasions mistakes can be made. When the Spam filter incorrectly classifies a legitimate message as Spam, this is called a false positive. The instructions below describe how you can easily search for any false positives that may not have been properly routed to you inbox.
Enilon recommends that you review your junk mail periodically in order to identify any potential false positives. Review is especially recommended when a sender informs you that they sent you a message that you did not receive.
To check your Junk Mail folder:
- Login to your Webmail
- In the folder menu on the left you will see a folder called "Junk Mail"
- Click on this folder to view the messages it contains
If you see a message in Junk Mail that should not be considered Junk Mail folder follow these steps:
- Select the message by clicking in the checkbox to the left of it
- At the top of the page above your email messages, choose "Unmark as Spam" from the Choose an Action drop-down box.
- Click the Do Action button and the message will be moved to your Inbox.
(Note: If you use a separate mail client to check your mail such as Microsoft Outlook, the message you just moved will be downloaded to your computer the next time Outlook checks for mail.)
As good as the Spam filter is, it might not catch all Junk Mail being sent to you. If you see a message in your Webmail Inbox that should be considered Junk Mail, follow these steps:
- Select the message by clicking in the checkbox to the left of it
- At the top of the page above your email messages, choose "Mark as Spam" from the Choose an Action drop-down box
- Click the Do Action button and the message will be moved to your Junk Mail folder.
