Today, we sat down to catch up with Jason Martinez, one of Enilon’s UX Developers and also one of our longest-standing team members. As per usual, Jason kept us laughing with his jokes and one-liners.
Jason came to us eight years ago in October and has been a part of our team for the longest of any of our employees besides Jeff, our Founder and CEO. He was born and raised in Irving, and decided to stay in the area. Jason has continued as a UX Developer for us and has experience working with many of our clients.
Q: What do your day-to-day activities look like?
I do a lot of maintenance for our clients, whether that be simple tasks like doing a quick update on a site or bigger ones like building a site from scratch. I spend most of my day making sure that all of our clients’ technological needs are met and that everything is working on the back-end so that things on the front-end are also successful.
Q: What has been your greatest accomplishment at Enilon?
I’d have to say my greatest accomplishment has been my role in the Flexjet website that we helped create. We were given this task, and when we started we weren’t sure what was the best direction to make that site informative and effective. We didn’t know what technologies we were going to use, but as we got closer to the end we were thinking, “Wow, by the time we’re done with this, this is going to be pretty cool and we’re going to come out of this knowing a lot more than we knew when we started.” And that was true. We ended up with a product that we were really proud of and that satisfied the client’s needs.
Because Jason would never brag about his work, we felt the need to add that our work with the Flexjet website actually brought home two awards from the Excellence in Interactive Marketing Awards. Read about those awards here.
Q: What is your best advice for clients?
My best advice to the client would be to trust us, and trust the process that we go through in working with you. We’re really proud of what we do here and as a developer, we like to show off. We like to do exciting things and build awesome stuff, and we get excited when we get to build awesome stuff for a client. All of our projects become kind of like our children, so when we are finished with a project, we want our clients to know that we really have placed our trust in the finished product and that we trust it will do its job and succeed.
Q: What do you like most about working at Enilon?
The people here, because they’re my team. Everyone here is very intelligent, very creative and very easy to work with. Everyone goes above and beyond for each other and for our clients, and that makes it easy and exciting to come into work each day.
Q: What celebrity do you get mistaken for?
I can’t say I’ve ever been mistaken for a celebrity, but if I was, I would like to think that it would be Brad Pitt.
Q: What story does your family always tell about you?
Well, the one that pops into my head…(after several minutes of uncontrollable laughter)…when I was young, I got my head caught between the bars of a headboard. My little cousin, who apparently had a smaller head than me, stuck his head between the bars and then pulled it out no problem. So he convinced me to do the same thing, and I was stuck. So they had to put a ton of butter behind my ears and pop my head out of there.
Q: What is your best joke?
I’m pretty partial to dad jokes. I became a dad right when I started working here, and now I have two kids so I’m always just rolling out the dad jokes.
Whether it’s by building award-winning sites or keeping us all laughing with his dad jokes, Jason has been an integral part of our team, and we look forward to celebrating another work anniversary with him in October. We appreciate Jason and all of his hard work that has made our technology efforts so successful.
